This is an intensive course which allows those who have completed their Medical Care On-board Ship course within the past five years, to update their skills and knowledge.
This course is designed for seafarers who are designated to take charge of medical care on board ship in accordance with Regulation VI/4 of the annex to the STCW Convention and Section A-VI/4 (4-6) of the STCW code, and the Merchant Shipping (Training and Certification) regulations 1997.. It equips you with a sufficient level of knowledge to be able to take immediate effective action in the case of any accidents or incidents of illnesses.

Certification
Subject to the student successfully completing the course to the desired standard of competence a certificate will be issued stating that the candidate has completed a programme of training by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency as meeting the requirements laid down in STCW78 Regulation VI/4, and STCW Code Section A-VI/4 (4-6), as amended. And has also met the additional criteria specified in the STCW Convention and Code, applicable to the issue of this certificate.
Course Certifying Body : Maritime and Coastguard Agency, an executive agency of the Department for Transport.
Validity : Valid from 5 years from date of certificate.
