This MCA approved training program is intended to meet the requirements set out in section A-V1/1 of the STCW code for training in Elementary First Aid. The training program also meets the requirements of the IMO STCW standards. The training forms part of the requirements for basic training for Seafarers.
Certification
Subject to the student successfully completing the course to the desired standard of competence a certificate will be issued stating that the candidate has completed a programme of training by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency as meeting the requirements laid down in STCW78 Regulation VI/1, and STCW Code Section A-VI/1, paragraphs 2.1.3, as amended. And has also met the additional criteria specified in the STCW Convention and Code, applicable to the issue of this certificate.
Course Certifying Body
Maritime and Coastguard Agency, an executive agency of the Department for Transport.
Validity – Valid from 3 years from date of certificate.

Candidates will demonstrate knowledge and ability in:
- first aid principles
- casualty recovery and rescue
- casualty assessment
- recovery position
- control of bleeding
- bandaging and dressings
- management of shock and burns
